ABOUT US

Our family has been running cattle at Dunbarton since August 1936. No feedlots. No hormones. No factory farming. Just free roaming, all organic pasture fed cattle, located here in clean country northern Victoria. Our focus is on breeding healthy, productive, and self-sustainable fullblood Japanese Black Wagyu. All our cattle are genetically traced back to founding Japanese sires and are not cross bred or mixed. Our genetics programme focuses on breeding small birthweight, solid growth Wagyu, with an emphasis on marble fineness and maternal traits, like milk supply, which allow cows to mother their own offspring without the need for the creep feeding and fast bulking methods used by mass producers. Like all registered Wagyu breeders, we use DNA testing and scientific advances to collate data (Estimated Breed Value) but numbers on paper don’t dictate our approach. We use three generations of breeding and pasture knowledge to get superior outcomes in solely paddock conditions.
